TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I value “Progressive Education,” such Alfie Kohn describes: attending to the whole student, community, collaboration, social justice, intrinsic motivation, active learning, taking students seriously, and deep understanding “organized around problems, projects, and questions, rather than around lists of facts, skills, and separate disciplines.”
Emphasizing meta-cognition, critical thinking, creativity, and contextual learning, I have developed a pragmatic, collaborative, student-centered approach built on the understanding that learning is ubiquitously interwoven with the fabric of life.
